Homebot One · AI product designer & creative director

KOKO, your first home robot

An embodied AI home robot that remembers where things are, cares for plants and pets, coaches workouts, plays with kids and keeps elders company. Launching on Kickstarter, pitched live at CES 2026, and coming soon to The Price Is Right.

Key decisions
  • Stops and asks when unsureSlower in edge cases, but families can trust what it does.
  • Named actions, not raw controlThe AI picks from actions like remind, check in or call family, so behavior stays predictable.
  • Memory outlives the hardwareThe relationship lives in a memory layer, so KOKO stays the same companion after an upgrade.
  • Local-first, permission by defaultData stays home where possible. Family access is granted by the older adult.

Frequently asked questions

Is Lingfei still hands-on?

Yes. At Homebot One, Lingfei designed KOKO's interaction, voice and screens hands-on, and prototypes in the real medium: voice tested out loud, robots in rooms, car flows in the car.

Why hire a founder as a designer?

Founders own the whole loop. Lingfei has run user interviews, sized markets, worked with engineers on tradeoffs and shipped hardware under real budgets. That makes design decisions faster and easier to defend in front of executives.

What kind of problems fit best?

AI that takes actions: agents, robots, in-car and multi-device systems. Anywhere people need to understand what a system is about to do, and stay in control when it is unsure.
